Abstract
Fistulation of a gall stone into stomach (cholecystogastric fistula) or duodenum (cholecystoduodenal fistula) resulting in gastric outlet obstruction is rare and was first described by Leon Bouveret in 1896 (Bouveret’s Syndrome). We carried out a literature search using the terms Bouveret’s syndrome (BS), intestinal obstruction and duodenal gall stones using OVID interface in Embase database from 1947 to 2013 and Medline data base from 1946 to 2013. Data were acquired to study published management protocols for this rare clinical entity with the aim of producing a narrative review to guide future management. The majority of the retrieved materials were case reports and narrative reviews describing various management protocols.
Keywords : Cholelithiasis, Intestinal Fistula, Duodenum, Gallstones, Gastric Outlet Obstruction, Humans.
