Abstract
Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome is a rare condition which presents with seizures, headache and cortical blindness. It is associated with white matter changes on imaging secondary to vasogenic edema. It is associated with hypertension during peripartum period but can be seen in others conditions as well. We report here a twenty one year old primigravida who presented with imminent signs of eclampsia and cortical blindness. The patient was diagnosed with posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome after thorough work up. Patient was treated with antihypertensive and showed complete improvement. Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome is a rare but important condition which requires early recognition and treatment to prevent morbidity and mortality in pregnancy and postpartum.
