Abstract
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a treatable disease with varied presentation. Its early diagnosis can change the fate of the patient. Even in a country like India where rheumatic fever and tuberculosis are very common, SLE should be kept as a differential diagnosis of undiagnosed fever. Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a very common valvular heart disease and though usually benign it may present with adverse outcomes. There is well known association of MVP and SLE. Even MVP may be an early indicator of autoimmune disease. Meticulous approach in MVP patients might help to diagnose SLE ahead of time.
