Abstract
Background: Primary tuberculosis of breast is an uncommon entity of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis. Case Report: We are reporting a case of primary breast tuberculosis presenting as breast abscess in a 23 year old female. Pus from the abscess was subjected for TB-PCR and Mycobacterium tuberculosis was detected. Breast-mammography was suggestive of breast tuberculosis. Patient was put on anti-tubercular drugs. The patient’s treatment course was uneventful. Follow up mammography after 12 months of anti-tubercular therapy showed complete abscess resolution. Conclusion: A high index of suspicion is required for diagnosis of breast tuberculosis.
