Abstract
Background: The motor component of the facial nerve supplies the muscles of facial expression; and Bell’s palsy is a common manifestation of isolated facial nerve palsy. Case Report: The patient being reported is an elderly male who presented with isolated facial nerve palsy and was found to have a dorsal pontine infarct. Conclusion: Facial paralysis due to lacunar infarct involving the lower pons is a rare scenario. This case, therefore, emphasizes the consideration of other causes of isolated facial palsy before attributing it to Bell’s palsy.
