Abstract
Background
: Escherichia hermannii is a distinct non-pathogenic species within the Escherichia genus.
Case Report
: The authors hereby report a case of acute pyelonephritis caused by Escherichia hermannii in a 49-year-old lady with diabetes mellitus.
Conclusion
: Awareness about the organism as a potential cause of pyelonephritis is important as it can be easily mistaken for Escherichia coli.
